Dear Staging Etc.,

I am the casting researcher for the Vancouver season of Property Brothers, which airs on the W Network.

We are trying to get the word out that the show is now casting outgoing and dynamic families, couples, and singles in the GVRD, who are currently house hunting and have a budget to renovate. Different building types are welcome. (Houses, condos, etc.)

Our expert team will work with participants to remodel areas of their home based on their budget (and network requirements). Plus our tight timelines fast track the renovations. Applicants selected to participate in the series will be offered a minimum of $10,000 worth of design services and products.

I am hoping you would be open to passing along our casting info to any buyers who are currently considering a remodel (big or small) to their purchased property. Please feel free to give out the flyer I have attached or I would be more than happy to drop some off.

Decorating With A Theme Colour

Staging Tips for Small Space:

Pick a THEME COLOUR and sprinkle that colour throughout your home with subtlety.

This can be done by choosing DIFFERENT SHADES of that colour. For example, when using a colour to decorate- such as purple, make sure to select different shades of that colour; light purples, medium purples, deep purples, lilac, eggplant etc…. By doing so, you add depth and interest to the colour without overwhelming your buyers eyes. It’ll also give a sense of flow and fluidity to anyone who walks through your space.

Using the same colour scheme throughout a small space can be very beneficial, especially if your home needs to show openness and spaciousness. The last thing we want, is for any space to show small and choppy. The impression is to show your space like one big open area -with function and character at each corner- all interrelated.

Looking for a neutral colour paint combination idea?

With so many colours, tones, and shades to choose from, it’s no wonder we have trouble narrowing down to just a few- enough to cover a condo space.
If you don’t have a strong desire towards any particular colour or shade, below is an example of a colour combination that work well together. This color scheme will help open and liven any small space. Like a breath of fresh air, these colours are soft and light, and with the right amount of brightness and depth that will give your condo a clean and modern make over.

The House Outdoor

I still remember my childhood days of using outhouses- all too clearly. Until this day, outhouses are still my least favorite room/ structure, and I will try to avoid at all costs. These “outdoor bathrooms” were never well designed nor tastefully decorated… 20 years + later, and these tiny outdoor rooms are still cold and uncomfortable, dark and scary, and definitely not very attractive. But why? I will never understand.

Growing up, I had many fears of using outhouses: fear of falling in, fear of being trapped inside, fear of someone/ something hiding down inside, fear of mid exposure -the structure falling apart while I’m inside, fear of death from holding my breath… Eventhough I survived unscathed, I still dislike.

This past weekend, at the BC Home and Garden Show, I saw heaven on earth. An “outhouse heaven” to be exact, and I was immediately mesmerized (see attached photos). I must have stood fixed in front of these beautiful outhouse displays for hours… I was genuinely captivated.
Yes, there is still hope.
